Superintendent
Job Description
We are looking for a tenured deadline-driven construction superintendent to oversee our construction projects and function as the link between subcontractors and the company. The construction superintendent manages the subcontracting teams and supervises all on-site work. In addition, the construction superintendent is responsible for on-site orderliness and compliance with safety regulations, state and local codes, and company policies and procedures. The construction superintendent is responsible for on-site client interactions. You will ensure quality standards are met and all equipment and materials are on-site and available at all times. Importantly, you will consult with inspection authorities regarding permitting and approvals. Project completion on time and budget, while at the same time maintaining company quality standards, is the key to your success. Top candidates will be strong leaders, pro-active thinkers and doers, and perform well within time and resources constraints.
Construction Superintendent Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a residential construction superintendent and ten years of experience in residential construction
‣ Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree and three years as a residential superintendent will be considered ‣A high school diploma or GED is required
- Expert understanding of new home construction, remodels, and additions is required
- Leading and managing the on-site construction teams
- Coordinating and overseeing all on-site work to ensure timelines are being met
- Attend production meetings
- Schedule and budget reviews are done daily to ensure adherence to timelines and revenue creation
- Ensuring quality standards are met
- Responsible for on-site equipment, materials, and site cleanliness
- Monitor and ensure on-site safety compliance and orderliness
- Maintain records for site personnel such as daily field reports, field orders, and RFIs
Consulting with inspection authorities regarding permitting and approvals
Construction Superintendent Requirements:
- Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel, Email, and Google G-Suite
- Proficient with scheduling software, e.g., CoConstruct ‣Will train on CoConstruct as needed
- Proficient with taking and uploading digital photographs
- Ability to lift and carry at least 75 pounds
- Must have a valid driver’s license (preferably DOT-certified)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Ability to tolerate inclement weather and adverse site conditions
- Ability to inspect houses and sites during all phases of construction, which may involve climbing stairs and ladders
- Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
- Ability to work independently and to conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines and our standard operating procedures
- Ability use trades skills to instruct and, if needed, help subcontractors complete tasks and projects
- Participate in regular production meetings and lead on-site team meetings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Expert organizational skills
- Expert problem-solving abilities to manage and solve project conflicts
- Expert ability to manage numerous projects at one time.
Communication Responsibilities:
- Communicate daily with designers, office manager, and owner throughout the job process
- Be available and immediately responsive via email, text, and phone
- Update owner each afternoon of job status and record all status in CoConstruct
- Communicate with office manager as needed for scheduling and financial details
- Ensure owner is aware of trade partners neglecting properly communicated schedule, scheduling conflicts, or any critical trade issues
Miscellaneous – Important!
- Utilize all applicable CoConstruct features to properly coordinate with designers, office manager, and the owner

- Salary: $65,000 – 75,000 per year
- Sick Days: Seven
- Vacation: 1st year = two week, all successive years = uncapped
- All Major Holidays: Off
- Workdays: M – F (presuming projects are complete)
- Most work located within a thirty-mile radius of Winchester, VA
